Itasca is training the next generation of operators. Be in demand across a wide range of industries. More can be yours.
Many northern Minnesota industries anticipate that over one-third of their highly-skilled technical workforce will retire by 2020. Process operations training will be needed to replace these positions and prepare for the expected industrial expansion in the Northern Minnesota region. From a national standpoint, US manufacturers currently have 600,000 unfilled technical positions due to a lack of qualified skilled workers (according to a report by the National Association of Manufacturers).
The Process Operations program at Itasca Community College trains 21st century employees to meet the expectations of the power generation, pulp and paper, biochemistry, manufacturing, food processing and petrochemical industries (as well as other industries that rely on skilled process operators). Through the program, students gain the skills necessary to be safe and effective in an industrial environment as well as a fundamental knowledge base of mechanics, computer science, and applied math. The program emphasizes the communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills that employers demand from the 21st century industrial technician.
The skills and knowledge students will develop through the Process Operations program are in high demand across a wide range of industries.
