Presidential Scholarship

Itasca Community College will offer a full tuition & fees Presidential Scholarship for 2021 high school graduates enrolling at Itasca Fall Semester 2021.

Presidential Scholarship Application

Award

Full tuition & required fees for 30 credits at the normal undergraduate resident rate for on-campus courses. (Dollar amount dependent on 2021-2022 tuition rate- estimated at $5612.)

Please read all information below before proceeding with the application.

Renewability

Scholarship is renewable for a second academic year. Student must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA to remain eligible.

Timeline & Deadlines

First Priority Deadline: December 1, 2020

Second Priority Deadline: March 1, 2021

Applications Accepted on a Rolling Basis, until all scholarships have been awarded or Fall Semester 2021 begins.

Applicant interviews conducted as applications are received.

Eligibility/Criteria

Due to COVID-19, some students have reported that they have been unable to take the ACT or have chosen not to take the ACT as many colleges have stopped requiring it; therefore, we have developed two sets of eligibility criteria for our Presidential Scholarship.


Students who have taken the ACT
or will take the ACT prior to the next application deadline

  • Must be a current high school senior on track to graduate prior to the beginning of Fall Semester 2021.
  • Must have an ACT Composite score of 28 or higher.
  • Must have either a minimum 3.80 cumulative high school GPA or be in the top 10% of high school class after the completion of 11th grade (based on unofficial high school transcript; recipients will be required to submit an official transcript for verification)
  • Must enroll in at least 30 on-campus course credits at Itasca Community College during the 2021-2022 academic year (fall and spring semesters). Courses taken from outside institutions and online courses will not be counted toward the total.

Students who were unable, or chose not to take the ACT
and will not take it prior to the next application deadline listed below*

*You must certify that you have not, and will not, take the ACT. Students who took the ACT and did not score a 28+ are not eligible to apply under the alternate criteria.

  • Must be a current high school senior on track to graduate prior to the beginning of Fall Semester 2021.
  • Must have either a minimum 3.90 cumulative high school GPA or be in the top 5% of high school class after the completion of 11th grade (based on unofficial high school transcript; recipients will be required to submit an official transcript for verification)
  • Must solicit two recommendations from personal/professional contacts (see details below).
    • Neither recommendation may be submitted by a family member.
    • One recommendation must be submitted by a personal/professional contact not associated with the student's school.
    • Student must waive rights to viewing or accessing these recommendations.
  • Must enroll in at least 30 on-campus course credits at Itasca Community College during the 2021-2022 academic year (fall and spring semesters). Courses taken from outside institutions and online courses will not be counted toward the total.

Additional Terms & Conditions

  • Recipients of the Presidential Scholarship will not be eligible for additional ICC Foundation Scholarships, though students may be awarded outside scholarships and receive other forms of financial aid.

Application

Presidential Scholarship Application

  • Application includes short answer questions and a 500 word (maximum) essay that can be uploaded online or emailed.
  • Essay question: Explain how you envision your experience with higher education will impact your future contributions to society.
  • Unofficial transcripts and ACT scores may be uploaded or submitted via email.
  • Students who did NOT take the ACT: Provide two references Itasca can contact to complete a recommendation form. Neither reference may be a family member, and only one reference may be from your school. You waive your right to review/access these recommendations.
  • Finalists will be contacted shortly after the application deadlines above for interviews.
