How To Apply for Graduation

  1. Log into eServices and download/print your DARS (Degree Audit Report).
  2. Make an appointment to meet with a counselor or advisor by calling 218-322-2320.
  3. Complete the Graduation Application and email to
  4. Complete the Graduate Follow-up Survey within 12 months of graduation.

Graduation Application Deadlines:

Semester of Graduation Deadline for Application
Fall Graduates First Wednesday in October
Spring Graduates First Wednesday in March
Summer Graduates First Wednesday in April (for spring ceremony)


Any questions concerning eligibility for graduation or the graduation application process may be directed to the Records Office at or 218-322-2324. Questions regarding the ceremony may be directed to the Provost’s Assistant in 107 Admin Building (218-322-2400).

Kayley is also collecting photos of graduates to post on social media, as well as the electronic billboard in Grand Rapids; so if you would like to participate, please send your name and a photo to Kayley’s email.

Caps & Gowns

If you would like to wear an ICC Cap and Gown for the ceremony, they will be available through the ICC Bookstore at no cost to students. We’re offering curb side pick-up or UPS shipping for those students outside the Grand Rapids area. Please contact Faith McBride at, or Jill Day at to make arrangements.

Be sure to indicate your height in your gown request email so that you receive the correct size.

If you would prefer not to order a cap and gown, you are more than welcome to just dress up for the occasion.

Graduating with Honors

Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits in order to be eligible for honors status. Cumulative grade point averages at the end of fall semester are used to determine honor status for students completing degrees at the end of spring semester or summer session. Honor cords will be included if you request a cap and gown through the ICC Bookstore.

Honors status requires a cumulative GPA of 3.25 to 3.49
High Honors status requires a cumulative GPA of 3.50 to 4.00


Diplomas are not awarded at the time of the graduation ceremony but will be mailed after a final graduation review has been completed. The approximate dates of diploma mailings is March 1 for fall graduates and September 1 for spring and summer graduates. Degrees are posted to transcripts prior to the mailing of diplomas.


The program will list the names of all candidates for graduation (fall, spring, summer) who have applied for graduation regardless of whether they participate in any commencement ceremonies.

We will be mailing out the diploma cover, copies of the commencement program, and other information to each student who has applied for graduation. This packet will be sent to the permanent address you listed on your graduation application.

Newspaper Coverage

Included in the diploma mailing will be a generic form that students may complete and submit to their local newspaper for publication. We will also be publishing the names of graduates who applied to graduate in the local newspaper, the Grand Rapids Herald-Review.
