Itasca Community College recently chartered the Beta Xi Lambda chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society for two-year colleges and the largest honors society in the world. Eligibility requirements are a 3.25 or higher cumulative G.P.A. and completion of at least 12 semester hours.
Benefits of membership in Phi Theta Kappa include:
- Eligibility for $37 million in scholarships, available only to Phi Theta Kappa members
- Phi Theta Kappa seal on diploma and indication of membership on official transcript
- Recognition at graduation
- Opportunities for leadership, service, fellowship, and scholarship at the local, regional and national levels
Many colleges and universities offer automatic or competitive transfer scholarships to Phi Theta Kappa members. This is a great opportunity for students who transfer to four-year universities.
Students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa through a formal letter sent out mid-semester.
