What is your degree in? I have a B.A. in English and Slavic Languages & Literature and I have my M.A. in English.

What school(s) did you attend? I attended the University of California—Berkeley (B.A.) and the University of Iowa (M.A.).

What classes do you teach? All composition (writing) classes and all literature classes

What is your favorite meal at the Viking Grill? Asian chicken salad

What do you do in your spare time? I ski, bicycle, canoe, read, cook, camp and hunt mushrooms.

When did you graduate from Itasca? 2011

What is your degree in? I have an AA degree.

What school(s) did you attend? I attended both ICC and BSU. I am currently a junior and BSU where I am pursuing a B.A. in English with an emphasis on writing. 

Where is your hometown? Deer River, MN

What do you do outside of school? I write as often as I can. I dabble in gardening and high-five myself every time something survives my greenish thumb. I love building forts with my granddaughters and having wildly imaginative adventures.

Who is your favorite instructor? Why? Jon Byrne for inspiring and encouraging me; Teresa Alto for believing and supporting me; and Drew Davis for not taking me too seriously and helping me survive my worst and most painful subject ever—math!

What attracted you to Itasca? Location, location, location! What kept me here are the wonderful instructors, the exceptional support group, and an overall sense of belonging.

What is your degree in? Math and Geology

What school(s) did you attend? College of Charleston, Penn State, West Chester University, Bemidji State University

What classes do you teach? Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus, Technical Math, Natural Resources Math, Earth Science, Mapping, Environmental Science, Physical Geography

What do you do in your spare time? I sell and collect minerals, fossils, and rocks. I enjoy traveling and reading science books.

How long have you been at Itasca?

In the 1990’s I was part-time and went full-time in 2002. In 2011 I retired.

What is your degree in?

I have a B.A. in American Studies and an M.A. in English

What schools did you attend?

Augsburg College and Bemidji State University

What classes did you teach?

I taught American Indian Literature, Research Writing, Writing about Literature, Composition, and the English class for the Danish students.

What is your favorite meal at the Viking Grill?

Chili

What do you do in your spare time?

Read, write essays, garden, walk/hike, cook, sing, xc ski, travel and listen to music.

What attracted you to Itasca?

Initially, as a transplant to this area from the Twin Cities, I was attracted to the cultural and continuing education opportunities on campus.  Then, as interim continuing education director at Itasca, I got to know many of the wonderful faculty and staff members. This positive impression was reinforced when I served as public information and artist-in-residence director for the former Arrowhead Community College Region, housed on the ICC campus.

Why did you choose Itasca? When I attended ICC in 2006, I did so because it was close to home and I loved the campus!

What will your degree be in? Adult Education and Training (May 2013)

What schools did you attend? Itasca Community College (AA Degree) & Saint Joseph’s College of Maine (B.S.)

What do you do in your spare time? I spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy reading, crafting, Rock Band, watching Big Band Theory and playing with my puppy Boedy!

What is your favorite meal at the Viking Grill? Wild rice soup and breadsticks!

What do you do in your spare time? I enjoy watching baseball and hockey and reading a good book!

How long have you been at Itasca? I have been at Itasca since 1988.

What is your degree in? I have a M.A. in English with an emphasis in creative writing and a focus in poetry. I also have a community college teaching focus.

What school(s) did you attend? My M.A. and B.A. are from Minnesota State University at Mankato. Before that I attended Moraine Valley Community College.

What classes do you teach? I teach Fundamentals of Written English, Expository Writing, Short Story, Poetry and Technical Writing.

What is your favorite meal at the Viking Grill? Chicken wild rice soup with fresh breadsticks!

What do you do in your spare time? I like to canoe, snowmobile, XC ski, snowshoe, make maple syrup, camp, hunt, and fish. I also write a lot.

What attracted you to Itasca? I came because I liked the beauty of the country. What keeps me here is the beauty of the people who live here.

What do you do in your spare time? I entertain my 7 year old, walk, read, write, debate, ski, skate, knit and I am currently learning the harp.
