Five Days to "Drop and/or Add" a ClassSemester-Long ClassesYou have the first five days of the semester to decide if your classes are right for you. If you decide to drop a class you need to remember the following:
- If you stop attending the class, it doesn't mean you dropped the class.
- If you do not drop the class within the first 5 days, you are financially obligated and will be charged tuition for the class.
- If you are receiving financial aid, you cannot drop your class online. You must drop it by completing the form you can obtain from the Student Services Office.
- If you are taking a summer session class, a block scheduled class or late start class, please stop by the Student Services Office (Room 107 Backes Student Center) for specific dates to drop these classes.
If you want to add a class, just stop by the Student Services Office (Room 107, Backes Student Center) or call 218-322-2320 or 800-996-6422 and make an appointment with one of the counselors. You can also drop a class online. Just click on "Current Students" and follow the e-service instructions.
If you want to withdraw from classesTo totally withdraw from college, you must complete a withdrawal form in the Student Services Office in Backes Hall or Student Support Services Office in Donovan Hall. Student fees are refunded at a reduced scale from 100% to 20%. No refund is given after the 20th instructional day. Students receiving federal aid (grants and student loans) will owe a refund if they do not attend beyond the 60% point of the semester (check the federal refund policy on the website).
If you withdraw from just one class after the fifth day, you will receive a grade of "W" for that class. The grade will not affect your GPA, but remember you need to complete 67% your registered credits. If you do not complete 67% of the credits you register for, you will be placed on Academic Probation or Suspension.
Short Session Classes - These are special classes that meet a total of eight times or less. The withdraw/total withdraw - refund/bailout dates for these classes will be determined on an individual basis, using the number of class sessions. (An example would be a class that meets on Friday evening and one full Saturday.)
