How to Apply

Students can apply for admissions in the fall or spring semester one of three ways:

  • Online
  • Print off a paper application form from the website and send it to our Records Office.
  • Call 800-996-6422 or 327-4464 and we will mail you an application form.

General Application Information

  • Along with the completed application form ICC also needs your high school transcript and $20 application fee. You will receive notification regarding your admission approximately two weeks after all of your application materials have been received.
  • In January you can submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Itasca Community College's code number is 002356. You apply electronically at  www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  • Once you apply for admissions, housing information will be sent to you. Itasca has on-campus housing in Wenger and Itasca Hall. There is also a privately owned student apartment complex, Wannigan Apartments, adjacent to campus. If you plan to live somewhere else in the Grand Rapids area, you will want to start looking for available housing in May if you plan to attend in the fall and November if you plan to attend in the spring. Itasca does have a housing list, which is updated on a regular basis. You can request a housing list from the Information Center in Backes Student Center.
  • The Itasca Scholarships application forms are available in mid-January and need to be completed by March. To apply electronically in January, just click on "Costs and Financial Aid."
  • Once you have completed the application process make an appointment  by calling 800-996-6422 or 327-4467 to take the college placement test (it does not determine acceptance, it is for class placement) and register for classes. Students who plan to attend fall semester can take the placement test starting in March.  For spring semester, you will test and register in mid-December and early January. A schedule of placement test and registration times will be sent to you once we receive your completed application.  You can also view them online under "Best Start/Registration Schedule." We start to register new students for fall semester in May.
  • If you apply for on-campus housing, you'll receive information about your housing arrangements in July.
  • If you are looking for a work-study job on campus, a list of available jobs will be on the website under "Costs and Financial Aid" in August. This list is updated throughout the year.
  • If you are not receiving financial aid, your tuition and fees must by paid by the first day of class unless you have set up a payment plan through FACTS.
