How to Apply

If you plan to attend Itasca, just complete the application form, and send us your high school transcript. If you were born after 1957 and did not graduate from a Minnesota high school you'll also need to provide your immunization records.

If you plan to enroll under the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program, request additional information from Itasca or your high school counselor.

If you have attended other colleges or have been in the military, you may have your credits evaluated for transfer by having an official transcript sent directly to Itasca. If you have legally changed your name, have your name corrected on the transcript before it is sent.

If you are taking a summer class to transfer back to the college where you are seeking a degree, you need to complete the ICC application with the $20 application fee. We will also need an official transcript showing one semester of completed college work. Please include a note indicating which class interests you and once registration opens we will automatically complete your registration. You will receive an official notice of registration at the address listed on your application.

Application Fee

Send a $20 check or money order made payable to Itasca Community College, or if you would like to pay by credit card, please call our Records Office at 218-327-4468 or 800-996-6422. This is a one time, non-refundable fee.

Additional College Costs

If you want to find out more about Itasca and the registration process, you can complete an online orientation.

Medical Records

Students born prior to 1957 and students who graduated in 1997 or thereafter from a Minnesota high school do not need to provide immunization records. All other students must provide documentation of immunization against these vaccine preventable diseases: measles, rubella, mumps, diphtheria and tetanus. Please include immunization records with your application to Itasca.

If you are in need of health insurance, Itasca does have some information on companies that provide health insurance to college students. For more information about insurance, please contact Darla Nelson at 218-327-4461.

Placement Testing
Placement testing in reading and math is required of all new students before course registration.

There is no charge for the test. Once you have applied for admission and received your acceptance letter, you may call the Counseling Office at 218-327-4467 or toll free at 800-996-6422 to make an appointment to take the placement test. You also can take this test at any community college in Minnesota.

Transfer students who have completed college-level English composition and math courses do not have to take the placement test. Please make sure we receive an official transcript from the college you attended.

Minnesota Residents

If you have a high school diploma or a GED, or if you'll soon graduate from high school, you qualify for admission to Itasca. The Practical Nursing and Class Act programs have special admission requirements.

You can obtain additional information on these programs by contacting the Enrollment Services Director. Being admitted to Itasca does not guarantee admission to these programs.

Non-Minnesota Residents

Itasca's open admissions policy also applies to non-Minnesota residents. The basic admission requirement is a high school diploma or GED certificate. Admission to ICC does not guarantee admission to a specific program or college-level courses.

Resident Status

If you are from North or South Dakota, Wisconsin or Manitoba, you may be eligible to pay reduced tuition rates under the reciprocity agreement. You can obtain a reciprocity application through the ICC Records Office. (Applications are available late May.)

Post-Secondary Options

  • Seniors must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 with a class rank of 50% or higher. Juniors must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 with a class rank of 70% or higher.
  • Test into college-level courses when taking the placement test

Send the completed application form to Itasca along with your high school and/or previous college records and the $20 application fee.
