Applying for LoansFederal Direct Loan (subsidized and unsubsidized)
You will need the following
items in order to complete your loan application:
- Official Award Notice
- Federal PIN
- Driver's license number
- Addresses and phone numbers of two references
(references cannot be at the same address)
- You must use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer web browser
Every student
must complete three steps to apply for your Federal Direct Loan:
- Print and complete the Direct Student Loan Request
- All students will need to complete this form each time they wish to borrow a loan.
- Complete Direct
Student Loan Entrance Counseling
- Complete
the Master Promissory Note (MPN)
2006-2007
Federal regulations
require that ICC delay the first Direct Loan disbursement by 30
days for first time, first year borrowers. Also, fall only or spring only loans must be disbursed in two separate
disbursements.
This loan is only available to students who have been awarded a Perkins Loan on their Official Award Notice.
If you have been awarded a Perkins Loan, you will need to complete THREE steps to apply for a Perkins Loan:
Entrance Counseling - complete online at web link below
Master Promissory Note (MPN) - Complete in the Financial Aid Office.
Rights and Responsibilities Statement - Complete in the Financial Aid Office.
You will need the following

DO NOT APPLY FOR LOANS UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR AWARD NOTIFICATION E-MAIL.
A PLUS loan is taken out in
your parent's name and used for your educational expenses. Your parent must have an acceptable credit
history and complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
Parents will need the following
items in order to complete their loan application:

- Parent's Federal PIN
- Addresses and phone numbers of two references
(references cannot be at the same address)
- Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer web browser
If your parent's credit is
denied, you may be eligible for an additional unsubsidized Stafford loan. Check with the financial aid office for more
information.
Alternative (Private) Loans
Itasca
Community College maintains a historical list of all private lenders
who continue to participate in the Alternative Student Loan program
and who have provided funds to ICC students since the fall semester
of 2007. These alternative loans are governed by certain federal
regulations but are funded through a private lending institution.
