Chris Miller(HWT) led the way, earning All-American status and placing 5th with five pins in just over 20 minutes, to earn the NJCAA Tournament Pin Award. Chris Thoresen(197) saved his best wrestling for the national tournament and made his second trip to the All-American podium with three straight wins. Other wrestlers scoring points were sophomore Justin Jones(157) missing the All-American round by one match, freshman Cody Johnvin(141) and freshman Aaron Young(165).
Most of our wins came by fall or major decisions, which were huge in the point totals for the weekend. This speaks volumes of our competitive nature and mental toughness at the end of a long grueling season. Although we fell a little short of our season goals, we are looking forward to a phenomenal season next year with what is probably the finest nucleus of returning freshman we have had. There is no letting up in the pursuit of excellence and a national championship, as the team has already started their off season strength program and the coaches are in full swing recruiting.
We placed 6th in Div.III and 13th overall, Iowa Central ran away with the Div. I championship, our 6th place finish put us behind Harper CC- (119pts), Waubonsee CC-(73.5 ), Triton CC-(47.5), Gloucester CC (46), Ridgewater CC-(45.5), ICC-(41.5).
