Welcome to the official website for the 2007-2009 re-accreditation process at Itasca Community College.
After several months of discussions involving administrators, faculty and staff, "the first-year experience" has been selected as a theme for Itasca Community College's re-accreditation self-study (2007-2009) through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
To strategically address opportunities for improvement and make ICC's self-study work more streamlined and meaningful, Itasca submitted an application to the Policy Center on the First College Year for participation in the Foundations of Excellence (FoE). This comprehensive, guided self-study and improvement process enhances an institution's ability to realize its goals for student learning, success and persistence.
After consultations with the HLC and the Policy Center, the decision was made to integrate the two self-studies (HLC and FoE) into a single process. This means that information gathered during the self-study will be used to satisfy HLC accreditation criteria while at the same time addressing nine quality "Dimensions" outlined by the FoE.
To be successful, the process must be characterized by broad participation on the part of all Itasca constituencies, an objective analysis of the institution's strengths and weaknesses, and the development of and implementation of action plans.
These self-study activities will culminate in a report that will be sent to the HLC to help them prepare for an on-site visit in the Spring of 2009.
