Study Abroad

Part of Itasca Community College's mission is to "empower learners to meet and exceed their expectations and foster critical thinking and civic and global engagement."

Each year, ICC's Global Education Group - comprised of students, staff and faculty members - invites speakers from diverse backgrounds to campus to share their travel and living adventures in different countries.  ICC sponsors a global education week each spring semester, which in addition to speakers often includes ethnic foods and the opportunity to view films that depict a variety of cultures.

Students at ICC also can experience their own international adventure.  After graduation ceremonies each May, ICC sponsors a 10 - 13 day trip to a foreign country.  In spring 2009, students will spend 10 days in Egypt.  Academic credit is available for those interested.  Previous global education opportunities have had students traveling to the following:  1) Ireland; 2) Greece and Turkey; 3) Italy and France; 4) Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary; 5) Spain and Morocco; 6) China.

Danish Students Fall 2008ICC offers a Spring Semester study abroad experience in  Denmark.  Each fall we have Danish students study at ICC and in March,  ICC students travel to Denmark for eight weeks, that includes a 10-day Eurail trip and many weekend opportunities for additional travel.  The Danish Exchange is worth 15 semester transferable credits.  Classes start at ICC in January and are completed by May in Denmark.
