Transfer Option
For students who intend to continue their education at another
college, Itasca offers fully tranferable parallel programs for the
first two years. The college's general education requirements are
designed to help students meet the requirements of four-year degrees.
Students who plan to transfer should select courses with this goal in
mind.
When a specific college has been selected for transfer, plans whould
be made to meet the particular requirements of that institution. Program
guide sheet outlining the coursework needed to be taken at Itasca have
been carefully reviewed for several schools in Minnesota, North Dakota
and South Dakota. These guidelines are available outside the Counseling
Office in Backes Hall. Most student planning to transfer who are not commited to a specific field may complete the Associate in Arts Degree. Other possible fields of study include the following:
Students may switch at anytime from one group to another group
within transfer programs. Student considering such a switch are urged
to first meet with a counselor to help determine requirements for a
specific major.
UndecidedThe Associate in Arts
degree is also recommended for students who are undecided about their
field of study. The A.A. degree program allows students to complete
general education requirements for four-year institutions and to
transfer to those schools with junior-year status. Undecided students
are encouraged to utilize the ICC Career Center located in the
Counseling Office as well as explore college and career options with an
ICC Counselor.
The Minnesota Transfer CurriculumTransfer students who are
not interested in completing an Associates degree at Itasca may
complete the 40 credit Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MTC). The MTC is
composed of general education courses selected from ten goal areas. By
completing the 40 credits a student will fulfill the liberal education
requirements at public four-year colleges throughout Minnesota.
