Itasca Football finishes the year strong on a 3 game winning streak!
Itasca was 1-5 with six games into the regular season as the young offense matured and ended the season 4-5 narrowly missing the playoffs. Coach Mell has a very good nucleus returning for the 2010 season, which will be lead by captain Josh Stougard at the quarterback position after an All-Conference season. "Josh showed composure late in the season when other student-athletes could have easily cashed in" says Mell. "We will be looking to sign a number of athletes to fill key positions such as RB, DE, and LB, after losing some guys to graduation from those positions." We have experience now on offense and have always been pretty tough on defense. A defense that was ranked #1 in the nation in Total Team Defense in 2009.
Look for an aggressive blitzing defense and an explosive offense. Hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship will be the trademark of the ICC Vikings in 2010.
